NATIONAL SEATING & MOBILITY CHAMPIONS FUTURE ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONALS WITH APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (September 24, 2019) — National Seating & Mobility (NSM) the leading provider of complex rehabilitation, mobility and accessibility solutions in the U.S. and Canada, is championing the development of future Assistive Technology Professionals (ATPs) with the launch of the NSM ATP Apprenticeship Program. The 12-month integrated program, led by NSM’s Training and Development Department, incorporates mentor shadowing, an 8-week online curriculum, monthly assignments and peer-to-peer collaboration calls to provide a 360-degree learning experience preparing apprentices for the ATP certification exam.

Apprentices accompany mentors on equipment deliveries and client evaluations, complete mandatory assignments from NSM’s partner OccupationalTherapy.com and are required to take a series of online courses on NSM University, the company’s learning management system. NSM also provides a study kit for the ATP exam and covers the first time exam fee for apprentices. A development track is available to participants needing additional preparation in specific areas of study.
Program participants may include NSM Technicians who are interested in pursuing an ATP career, recent college graduates, or Physical and Occupational Therapists who are interested in making a career change. NSM is also partnering with universities across the U.S. to bring awareness to the ATP profession.
